Can you bend Simpson Strong Ties?
Simpson Strong-Tie Company Inc. structural connectors, anchors, and other products are designed and tested to provide specified design loads. Only bend products that are specifically designed to be bent.
What is an HU hanger?

Can you weld Simpson Strong-Tie?
When installing strap over wood structural panel sheathing, use 2 1/2″-long nails minimum. SD screws are Simpson Strong-Tie® Strong-Drive® SD Connector screws. Straps 16 ga. and heavier can be fillet welded to structural steel members.
Can Simpson straps be bent?
Embedded strap-style holdowns are cost-effective solutions for shearwall overturning or wind uplift. It is permitted to bend the straps to horizontal and back to vertical one cycle.
Can Simpson straps be welded?
Unless otherwise noted, Simpson Strong-Tie connectors cannot be welded. Pneumatic or power-actuated fasteners may deflect and injure the operator or others.
How do you size a joist hanger?
